Tailored volunteer days and events

HOPE worldwide is keen to promote volunteerism and can sometimes organise tailored volunteer days and events. Some recent examples are detailed below.

Yale Alumni Day of Service

HOPE worldwide was very pleased to be chosen as one of Yale University’s Alumni Annual Day of Service partners this year. A group of enthusiastic and hard working volunteers gave up their Saturday to paint our Two Step homeless centre in London.

Metropolitan Police CSR initiative

In 2011, the Metropolitan Police service approached HOPE worldwide to look at the possibility of providing a corporate volunteer programme for their employees. They worked with our staff to design a six-month IT training programme specifically for residents of our recovery programme. Eight residents from ODAAT completed the scheme, having learned how to use the internet and social media, produce documents and CVs, design websites and more, their confidence boosted immeasurably in the process, and some using their new found skills to reconnect with families affected by their addiction.

HOPE Youth Corps

Students and teens from International Churches of Christ congregations in the UK and overseas have taken part in the two-week annual HOPE Youth Corps. Participants serve various disadvantaged groups and in the process become more informed about social issues, learn leadership skills and build new friendships.

Annual Day of Service

Every year we organise our Annual Day of Service at multiple sites around the UK. Opportunities to volunteer typically include helping at old people’s homes, gardening, renovating, decorating or cleaning homeless centres or public places.
