Dear friends and supporters,

I’d like to share an important update about a change in the leadership of our Board of Trustees at HOPE worldwide UK.

After a decade of dedicated service, Martin Saurma-Jeltsch has stepped down as Chair and as a trustee. We are deeply grateful for Martin’s significant contribution over the years – from his early involvement on our advisory board in 2015, to his commitment as a trustee from 2021, and his steady leadership as Chair since 2023.

The trustees have appointed David Kaner, a current trustee and former Chair, to serve as Chair for a limited term of up to three years.

Martin said: “It has been an immense privilege to serve and to witness firsthand the passion, commitment and skill that each member of the team brings to our mission.

“I want to express my deepest thanks to the staff, volunteers, fellow trustees, and all those who have supported our work over the years. Your commitment is the beating heart of HOPE worldwide UK, and I am profoundly grateful to have worked with you.

“I leave with great pride in what we have achieved together. From the people who now have a key to their own front door to children who receive a quality education, we have changed lives, and I dare say, even given life.

“I have no doubt that HOPE worldwide UK is in very capable hands, and I am confident that it will continue to thrive, evolve, and make an even greater difference in the years ahead.

“Although I am stepping back from my formal role, I will always remain a supporter and advocate for the invaluable work you do. I wish HOPE worldwide UK, its leadership and its exceptional staff every success for the future.”

On behalf of everyone on the HOPE worldwide UK staff and Board of Trustees, I want to thank Martin for his years of service to HOPE worldwide UK. Throughout his time as Chair, Martin demonstrated strategic purpose, calmness, humility and compassion. 

We wish him every success for the future, and we welcome David Kaner as the new Chair of HOPE worldwide UK.
